Heavily influenced by folk artist greats such as Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly, Dylan was a reluctant spokesman. He has given voice to many songs encapsulating the anti war culture’s inner feelings, their hope and desire for change, and their angst at the blind brutality of their warlike brethren. “Blowin’ in the Wind” clearly presents the absurdity of many of the ideals the pro war culture holds dear. This idea is built upon in “The Times They Are A-Changin’ ” which drums hard on the ultimate futility of a refusal to adapt one’s world view.
